Update

Renee's right lung collapsed last night. I just met with the doctor team this morning. I think we have come full circle in that the doctor that admitted her in the first place is her main doctor for the week. They will do more tests today to try and hopefully see the status of blood clots as well as attempt to figure out where her infection is coming from as they are still confused about that. It is also not completely clear if that pain yesterday (and intense pain she is still having) was from the lungs or something else. They have inserted a tube to remove the excess air in her chest that came from the collapsed lung. They will leave it in for a few days but the damage to her lungs could have caused the hole in her lungs and having the ventilator with the pressures breathing doesn’t help and could have made it worse. I understand that with taking the air out of her chest her lung expanded again and the hole isn’t like leaking and it should heal on it’s own. They are hoping that the collapsed lung will just be a minor setback. On the bright side she is initiating her own breathing a bit more and the collapsed lung hasn’t made that too much worse other than the extra stress of trying to breathe through the pain.
