Update, Dec 24

The Tracheotomy went well yesterday! The waking up can be a tough emotional time and trying to communicate with us can be frustrating for Renee. She has also been on opioids so trying to gradually wean her off those can be an extra challenge for her as she experiences more of the pain and work to breathe. She is a real trooper though with a fighting spirit. We do have lots to be grateful for. The physio had her sitting up on the edge of her bed the first day she was awake (shocking the nurses) and she is responding well to their requests for moving feet and hands, etc. Her kidneys are gradually improving which is an answer to prayer!!! They are also gradually moving down the oxygen support she is needing as well! On another note…. It is a challenge to try and figure out how to be at two places at once and even more in the Christmas season - especially for Phil. Please pray as we try and figure out how to best be of support for Renee and family. If people are travelling to and from Edmonton and would like a passenger there and/or back feel free to be in touch. We expect to be here for a few more weeks yet. So very thankful for the answers to prayer so far. Currently she is resting well and her breaths per minute have dropped down to the lowest I have seen so those are all good signs. So extra thankful especially when you see others around you saying goodbye to a loved one.
