For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Advent

The Advent Season starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and leads up to the Nativity of Christ and the second coming of Christ. This year that is Dec 1!

As we begin the season of Advent, we start amidst all the darkness in our lives and in the world. It’s a time of expectant waiting and preparation for both the celebration of the birth of Christ at Christmas and the return of Christ at the Second Coming. We light a new candle each week, each symbolizing a unique perspective as we prepare to celebrate our Saviour's birth.

There are three thoughts that shape our desire for this season:

  1. We want to be renewed in the knowledge that Jesus came to save us from our sins and death.

  2. We want to experience His coming to us now, in our everyday lives, to help us live with meaning and purpose.

  3. We want to prepare for His coming to meet us at the end of our lives on this earth.

Come, Lord Jesus! We await your coming. Come, O Lord.
