Update

We thank you all so much for having a day of prayer and fasting (for those who are also doing that)! We are God’s children and he has a plan for each of us and we want to trust that. Sometimes though we don’t have because we don’t ask and so we appreciate you joining with us to ask for complete restoration of Renee’s health. I know sometimes it can be hard to know exactly how to pray so it is a blessing to know that the Holy Spirit helps us in that regard. I also wanted to share some specific requests and answers to prayer we have already received.

Here are some answers to prayer:
1 The wonderful staff here at the U of A and the care they give Renee and us including them being willing to give us a one-day compassionate exemption allowing Dallen to come in and see his Mom. There is some Christian staff that mentioned they are also praying for her.
2 Renee’s fever has gone down from what it was
3 The improved colour and temperature of her hands and feet. Better circulation.
4 Her blood pressure getting to a better level on its own so they can potentially take her off that machine.
5 That with the blood thinners and efforts they are making to get rid of the blood clots she hasn’t started bleeding.
6 Every day that she is still with us and her not taking a turn for the worse.
I am sure there are many more things we could add to that list.

Regarding prayer requests. I told the night nurse that the churches at home had planned a day of prayer for Renee and what she would suggest as things we could pray for. (I don’t know where she is at with even believing in God and prayer.) “Pray for the heart, lungs and kidneys. Everything else they can work with she says!” In chatting with another nurse that once the clots are dissolved then they can take her off sedation and see how she’s doing. So the big thing is waiting for these blood clots to dissolve safely.

1 Lungs - The big prayer request is for the blood clots to dissolve safely and soon without causing bleeding or stroke, etc. I believe they are still upping her heparin (blood thinner gradually). So along with that would be prevention of bleeding. Let’s also pray for healing and the prevention of scar tissue that can cause future issues in the lungs.
2 Heart - one side of her heart is enlarged and one of the nurses mentioned there is already some heart damage. Her heart rate is better than it was a few days ago. If the blood clots were gone her heart should not need to work so hard but once they can wake her up they can get a better idea of where everything is at including making sure there is no brain damage due to lack of oxygen, etc. We trust we are fine in that department.
3 Kidneys. At the moment she is on dialysis so her kidneys are not working at all. We are praying she can get back to having full-functioning kidneys.
There may be more updates today and Phil may have more things he would like prayer for. Let me know if you have specific questions.
I am sure there are all the regular things such as wisdom for doctors, strength for caregivers and the family, etc.

I wanted to read through some of the stories of Jesus healing people and I came across John 11:4 and it stuck out to me. I am praying that verse to be true in this case but trust God’s way is best. Either way, we want God to be glorified. Thanks to everyone for their support and prayers. Dallen is planning to come in tomorrow. -Myrna
